Juno
This Juno task was to give us the an idea of how to operate the cameras that were supplied as well as to understand how to use the editing software to develop our remake task.
I liked out scene as it has good camrea shots in it that match the orignal film as well as there were no continuity errors in the film as we matched the films props and costumes.
I disliked the tracking shot used as there were diffucult places to shot the trailer. Other people disliked the transition between shots.
Peer evaluation
My preliminary task was characterised as good by others because;
- Of the added outtakes to the end of it
-The title sequence was very effective and fit well with the given genre
-commercial comedy made sense to the audience
-Camera angles added variety
-Titles were professional
-The transitions between shots
-Good costumes and acting
- Sound effects were used well
What aspects could have been improved;
-Some parts were too long
-Some close ups were fuzzy and can be shot cleaner
-Continuity was an issue
-Change of setting
-Overlap in some shots
-Sound needs to be clearer

Mise En Scene
Forest Gump
Mise En Scene
Setting- Daytime, city centre, bus stop
Costume- the characters costume is a everyday outfit for a man his age with extremely worn out and muddy shoes.
Facial Expression- The characters face and body language show him having a blank expression with a slight showing of confusion and he had a straight and up right body posture.
Lighting- The lighting is very bright and colourfully making the audience alert
Sound effects
The audio track used in this scene where all calm and relaxing pieces of music using light piano sounds to sooth the audience.
The film also Incorporated busy town like noises such as car and bus engines running along with the sound of several pedestrians feet to capture the realism of the scene.
Camera angles and shots
The camera angles used were mostly tilting and panning shots that started from a high angle shot of the city.
The camera angle used on the character was a medium shot of their feet
The camera then tilted up to a close up shot of the actor.
Editing
There is no particular editing in this opening scene as it is all one long continuos scene.
The only transition used is when the buss arrives this transition cuts quickly and cleanly as it makes a seamless cut from shot to shot
The Thing
Mise En Scene
Setting- Outer space, anatatica, winter like atomsosphere, USA national research facility
Costume- Winter outfits, large coat, goggles
Facial Expression- The characters facial expression is unkown because of the actors facing being coverd by the masks he wears
Lighting- The light used is bright due to the snowy landscape
Sound effects- the sequence uses the audio effects of;
-Helicopter blade nosies effect ,
-Wolf nosies,
-UFO engine roar,
-Gun shot nosies
Camrea angels and shots
-The scene uses a wide shot to take in the visual of a flying UFO as well as the helicopters entrance
-The title sequence also tracks the wolf being chased by the helicopter along with the camrea tracking the chopper.
-They also use a medium shot to take in the actor leaning out of the choppers window
-They also use a close up of the actors face while he is shoting
-The sequence uses a long shot so the audience can see the massive surronding the movie is set in
Editing
-The films transictions are well pieces together allowing for a fast pass opening scen which allows for an instant thrill for the audience. for example from the helicopter when the actor is shoting to when the wolf is evading the incomin bullets
-It also uses a black fade transictiong for the entrance for the helicopter so it sepreates the new scene from the scene the UFO was introduced in.
The Prestige
Mise En Scene
Setting- A sparse forrset with many hats, a utilty room, an opera like stage and playhouse and below the stage that appers to be a basement
Costume- casual turn of the century clothes, expensive suit, burlesque style outfit
Facial Expression- The actors faces convay; terror, happiness, curisosity and confusion
Lighting- The sequence uses many diffrent kinds of lighting as it starts with a natural settign in the forset which gives a morning stlye brightness to the scene. Another use of lighting is the dark and dim lighting that is used when under the stage with only a few strands of electrical lighting shining through the floorboards
Sound effects;
-Sound of birds cherping
-tesla coils buzzing
-water bubbling and splashing
-operatic audio track
-clapping
Camrea shots
The sequence uses;
-Panning shoot of the woods
-Close up of the birdcages
-Medium shot of the actor on stage
-Close up of the actor underneath the stage
-Wide shot of the actor entreing the stage
Editing
The editing in the sequence uses slow transitions to build up tension, it also plays on these transitions to move between three diffrenet scenes to allow the story to gradually move along.
It also uses quick transitions to help quickly build the mystery in the secquence as it shifts from varying puzzling shots until the climax of the sequence happens

What does Richard Morrison explain about the Film Title Sequence?
'What I enjoyed most was coming up with the whole idea. I turned this project into an internal pitch. And so, a few days later, I had a room full of some truly outstanding creative work. And then he just said: I really like this narrative piece (mine) and those coloured frames (Shay Hamias, director).
Animating blood and its movement became the most crucial and challenging element of the sequence. We had to build special platforms within which we imitated blood movement and filmed it. And we had to give it this comical feel, which worked really well.'
Does Richard Morrison feel the Film Title Sequence was successful, why or why not?
Richard Morrison though the sequence was a success as he says 'And we had to give it this comical feel, which worked really well.' showing he found it as a success

The sequence gives the rest of the movie a air of mystery as the uses of sound gives it an intriguing setting as well as the uncertain locations used.
What does Richard Morrison explain about the Film Title Sequence?
I knew it. I knew it had to be something about the classic Batman comic logo. I thought, ‘What if we think of that in a 360º move? How about if it’s in landscape? How about I make it something you can move around, so you don’t quite know what it is?’ So that was the idea and then I just invented the world around it.
Does Richard Morrison feel the Film Title Sequence was successful, why or why not?
Yes as he said 'Nobody did anything like it before so that’s why it probably retained its timeless feel.'

Preliminary task evaluations
My favourite three preliminary task that shined out for me were
1. Celestial
This was one of my favourite preliminary task because of several reasons. One of these reasons is because of the instant impact of its genre as it immediately lets the audience aware of what style of film they are watching as it used not only a great audio track but an equally eerie location (cemetery) as well as this the excellent use of editing in the opening shot engaged the audience instantly because of its horror movie roots. The movie also stayed in keeping with the brief using match on action and 180 degree rule as well as having no continuity problems.
2. Time Out
I enjoyed this task as it had a well dubbed version of all the songs used and had a good sense of comic timing to it, as well as this the film did not have a problem with any continuity. The film did have a problem with the 180 degree rule but since it is a musical it would have had a difficult task in doing so and coped and worked very well without it.
3. Fug Lyfe
This was also one of my favourite films because of its clever use of comedy especially its use of deadpan and satire comedy choices; the film captures the comedy genre almost immediately and conforms very well to its genre as well having no problems with continuity and had very clear and humorous dialogue that was in keeping with its comedy style. Also the use of camera angles are cleverly used as they piece together very well and the editing sows it together very nicely .

Image analysis of Sunshine poster
This poster shows
many elements of Mise en scene in it such as the Setting and props used in it;
Such as the setting is obviously set in space and has some kind of interaction
with the sun as not only is the title of the poster and movie called Sunshine but
there is a picture of an immensely large sun in the background of it
Another element that
it incorporates is the use of costume as all of the cast in the poster are
shown wearing the same uniform showing they are all colleagues in the movie as
they all have the same dress code although you cannot make out in the poster
any make up or their hair styles as the characters are not given a close up.
Also the poster heavily uses both lights and colour in this
poster as it juxtaposes its use of lighting as it uses 'high key' lighting in
the poster which is displayed through the use of the sun and then uses 'low
key' lighting being space that surrounds the sun, doing this heavily emphasis
the magnitude of the sun in the background of the poster. The colour uses in
the poster is majority either light with yellow and white colours or dark with
black and dark brown.
The Poster uses majority only body language in its poster to
portray the characters as the facial expressions of the actors cannot be made
out in the poster but the body language used is very march like with level
shoulders and forward moving arms as well as this it shows one foot in front of
the other with all the characters showing that they are all moving forwards
this gives the impression that all characters are very serious and professional
as it has an army feel towards it.
Finally the poster positions the characters in front of a
massive star enough so they can all be seen and are in shot but no so much that
they take up the entire massiveness of the sun in the background so you can
equally focus you attention of both of these sites and not be taking in by just
one of them.
